Shaunte Allen

Struggling to keep learners engaged and progressing—especially those left behind by traditional training? Many adult learners face barriers that go beyond content—they need support, structure, and tools that meet them where they are. I use educational technology and evidence-based strategies to help learners overcome these challenges. Several of my students have even gone on to earn their GED and re-enter the workforce with confidence.

Hi! I’m Shaunte Allen, a literacy expert with 20 years of experience teaching English/Reading at the college and university levels. I’ve served as IT Director, Curriculum Director, Reading Department Chair, Online Learning Experience Designer, and Professor. My work has been recognized twice in Who’s Who in Community Colleges, and I’ve developed more than 1,000 courses, training programs, and digital solutions across higher education, government, and corporate sectors.

I hold a Master of Education in Secondary Education from Texas A&M-Commerce, a Bachelor of Arts in Literary Studies from the University of Texas at Dallas, and a Certificate in Visual Communications from Brookhaven College. I also completed the Educator Certification Program at Texas A&M-Commerce and hold certifications in English Language Arts and Reading (Grades 4–8, 8–12), ESL (Grades 4–12), Learning & Development (CLDP), Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Excel, and Quality Matters course review.

Whether I’m building full-scale training programs or facilitating educational technology workshops, my focus is always on making learning engaging, accessible, and practical. Now, I specialize in training curricula that close skill gaps, helping employees feel confident, understand instructions clearly, and apply what they learn. When learners are unsupported, they don’t just fall behind—they stop believing in what’s possible. I wanted to change that.

Construction Workers

Where Our Story Began

My college students struggled with literacy and required additional practice. But, their work and family responsibilities made after-class tutoring impossible. They often studied late at night when I was unavailable. Tutoring over email wasn’t effective for my adult learners.

To address the issue, I developed an e-learning platform. It integrated gamification that engaged all 5 senses while providing multiple practices for continuous support. My e-learning platform allowed students to access learning resources whenever they needed them – even in the middle of the night.

Recognizing that craft workers also face educational gaps but have even fewer resources, I committed to providing targeted literacy training that meets their unique needs. Many workers in Texas, especially non-native English speakers, struggle with reading, writing, and communication. In high-risk industries like construction and warehousing, misunderstanding safety protocols due to low literacy can be dangerous.

Seeing this need, I shifted my focus beyond the classroom to workplace training, leveraging my 20-year educational background to help close literacy gaps in high-risk sectors.

Now, I boost the bottom line for companies through training that improves literacy and empowers performance. It ensures workers return home safely to their families and advance in their careers.
